creased paper by enginemonkey creased paper by enginemonkey
I needed to distress a comic book cover for my latest project. I searched for creased corners but couldn't find anything suitable on here so I made my own. I thought I would share it.

Here's what I needed it for... [link]

Just one thing I ask if you download this, please return the favour by visiting the above link and leave a comment, I need feedback on the comic book cover :D

Also, please post up a link to your work to show how you used this, I'd be curious to see

Your creases were perfect for the front cover of a book I just published - they really fit in with my Hammer horror/Pan books aesthetic. Thank you so much for doing this.
Your BBT comic cover is extraordinary!

Hi Gambit,

Hope you don't mind me copying and pasting a previous answer I gave. This the process:

I managed to find an actual vintage magazine cover which was mostly a solid colour with creases (must have creases!), which I then scanned, opened it in Photoshop (are you using Photoshop?), then I...

Converted it to Greyscale so it turns into black and white. You'll see why a little further down.

Increased the contrast to make the blacks black and the whites really white.

Obliterate the magazine image so you end up with a solid black background using a chunky brush, then fine tuned the filling in with smaller brushes to get in between the creases (don't paint over these).

Once you have a solid black page with white creases, copy and paste it over your artwork onto a separate layer.

In the blending mode on that new layer use 'screen' and adjust the opacity to suit your needs. This particular blending mode works best when the image is in black and white.

Hey hey, i followed your lead and made my very own creased cover texture, all thanks to you (-:
Couple of things im none too sure about, why do you convert it all to black, and which is the best method to apply this texture effectively?

I have already applied it by playing about with it, just wondering if you had any tips.

Thanks again youve been a great help

There are probably other ways to do it, but that's what I do. Show me your results once it's done :)
